The smockshop is an artist run enterprise that generates income for artists whose work is either non-commercial, or not yet self sustaining. A smock is a simple double wrap around garment designed by Andrea Zittel - then sewn by artists who reinterpret the original design. As an active testament to Zittel’s principle that "rules make us more creative", each resulting smock is completely unique and one of a kind.

care:

how to wash: We like to hand wash our smocks and then drip-dry them on a hanger so that they dry flat and don’t have to be ironed. But some smocks can also be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. (Wool smocks should be dry-cleaned.) If you machine-wash your smock put it in a lingerie bag to help keep it from getting tangled up with your other laundry. (If you wash your smock without the bag you will understand what we are talking about.)

how to iron: Rebel from unnecessary and socially dictated work – don’t iron your smock!
